Marijuana Use, Marijuana Abuse and Medical Marijuana
I think it’s important to make clear distinctions between marijuana use, marijuana abuse and medical marijuana.
Marijuana use means taking marijuana recreationally or intentionally as a component in ceremony.
Marijuana abuse can mean different things:
- taking marijuana in large enough quantities to create harm.
- taking it in an unbalanced way for long periods of time.
- taking marijuana for the wrong reasons.
If people use marijuana in any way that goes beyond their body’s capacity to integrate it positively, then they’re abusing themselves.
This is why balancing marijuana is such an important issue.
Medical marijuana means using marijuana as a medicine.
Medical marijuana is not recreational.
Medical marijuana can and does get abused just like any other medication.
Marijuana Makes You Feel Good
The problem is that marijuana makes you feel good when you take it.
People like to feel good.
Anything that makes you feel good is potentially addictive.
What is Medical Marijuana?
What is a true use of marijuana for medical reasons?
The patient must have a condition that is best treated with marijuana and not some other kind of therapy.
There needs to be a clear justification for why marijuana is the best medication to use rather than some other medicine.
We Need Good Physicians
Many people prefer to get stoned than do what it takes to heal their illness. That’s why we need good physicians.
A good physician, regardless of what style of medicine he or she practices, has the discipline and integrity to lead a suffering person through the processes of healing.
The steps of this process often go outside the bounds of what the patient might otherwise prefer to do in the moment.
